Another week, another fire. Putting the dog out i noticed three fires along Howrah Beach and called them in to the Fire Brigade. Then curiosity and the chance to take photos got the best of me.

Bicheno is home to many including Faerie Penguins who have a Rookery  near Diamond Island. Photography is difficult as these birds come ashore at night and flash photography is out as the birds have no eyelids which means a camera flash can leave them blinded for life. Guides carry torches with specific frequencies of light to leave the penguins unaffected.

I noticed a fire last night and i had the chance so i grabbed the cameras and headed off to get a few photos. Turned out the fire i could see was a small one (7 ha) on the Queens Domain and while the fire website declares the fire contained there is not much to see (as the last photo suggests!)
