Today’s picture is of Richmond Bridge. It is the oldest bridge in Australia that is still in use. Built by convict labour between 1823 and 1825 it was to provide a reliable means of crossing the Coal River at Richmond and is still used by vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

It will be interesting to see if the bridge has any water running under it in a few weeks as it crosses the same river as the dam that is now officially empty. There is a weir a couple hundred metres down river that may keep the water level up for a while.
