I am excited about this news and am finally able to announce it. Hobart Daily has teamed up with True Local to give one reader the chance to win a 1gb iPod Nano which will be won by a reader of this blog!
So what do you need to do to win? It is easy. The contest is the Rant and Rave for Charity and what you need to do is visit True Local, to register and then start reviewing your local businesses (it doesn’t have to be in Hobart, just anywhere in Australia). Below the review box enter the promo code “Hobart” and you are in the draw to win the iPod Nano as well as the other prizes in the competition. The person with the most reviews using the promo code come midnight 17 November wins. A guaranteed winner from this blog!
And here is the bonus in the Rant and Rave for Charity, every review written will mean 50 cents is donated to the chairty of your choice or you can have the money spread around the different charities evenly. The goal is to raise $20,000 for charity.

Rant and Rave for Charity – TERMS & CONDITIONS
1. Information on how to enter form part of these conditions of entry. Participation in this competition constitutes acceptance of these terms & conditions of entry.
2. Entry is open to all permanent residents of Australia aged 15 years or over. Employees, directors and management of the Promoter or of the agencies or companies associated with the competition and the immediate families of these persons are ineligible to enter.
3. Each time a review is written on a business listed on truelocal.com.au, TrueLocal will donate 0.50 cents to an agreed list of charities. The Promoter reserves the right to change the list of charities at any time .The charities nominated by TrueLocal will be registered charities or not for profit organisations and can be viewed at www.truelocal.com.au.
4. TrueLocal Members can either;
1. Select a charity of their choice from the nominated charities list on www.truelocal.com.au, where TrueLocal will donate 50 cents per review on their behalf.
2. or select that TrueLocal will choose the charity & donate on the Members behalf.
5. Each charity must provide TrueLocal with a tax receipt once payment is received within two weeks.
6. The Promotional Period is open for 90 days and commences on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 9am AEDT and closes on Monday, November 17, 2008 at Midnight AEST.
7. There will be one Prize to be won every 30 days and the Prize will be awarded to the Member who has written the most number of reviews during the following prize periods;

2. Period 2 – 12.01am, Friday September 19, 2008 to Midnight, Saturday, October 18, 2008.
3. Period 3 – 12.01am, Sunday October 19, 2008 to Midnight, Monday, November 17, 2008.
8. To be eligible, Members must, during the Promotional Period visit www.truelocal.com.au and;
1. Register to become a TrueLocal member OR login if the entrant is already a member.
2. Perform a simple search for a business or service they wish to rate & review. Write a review on that business or service.
3. To win the Prize, the Member who has written the most number of reviews at Midnight at the end of each Prize Period will be awarded the ‘Top Reviewer of the Month’. In the event, there is more than one person on the same amount of top number of reviews, the Prize will be awarded to the person with the most number of reviews in total since becoming a TrueLocal Member.
4. Members are eligible to win all three Prizes within each Prize Period.
9. Members must adhere to the following criteria to be eligible to win the ‘Top Reviewer of the Month‘ Prize;
1. Unique and on different businesses
2. Reviews to be a unique and a minimum of 30 words in length.
3. Members must describe what they did like/dislike about the business being reviewed.
4. Members must outline whether they would use the service/business again and would they recommend it to others.
10. All entries become the property of the Promoter. Each review must be the entrant’s original work. By entering this competition all entrants:
1. consent to the Promoter making and publishing copies of the whole or part of their rating and review and otherwise utilising the entry and any rights in relation to the entry, to publicise this competition or for any other purposes; and
2. Undertake to the Promoter that their entry is not, and its use by the Promoter will not be, in breach of any third party intellectual property rights.
11. This is a game of skill. Each review received during the Promotional Period will be individually moderated by representatives of the Promoter to ensure content posted is not illegal, threatening, defamatory, invasive of privacy, infringing of intellectual property rights, indecent, libellous, hateful, obscene, or otherwise injurious to third parties or otherwise objectionable. When reviews have been passed through moderation – they become valid entries.
1. There will be one prize awarded during each of the three Prize Periods within the Promotional Period;

Period 3 – 12.01am, Sunday October 19, 2008 to Midnight, Monday, November 17, 2008. iPod touch 16gb valued at $499
12. Total prize pool is valued at $1,487. The value of all prizes is accurate as at the commencement of the Promotional Period and the Promoter will not be responsible for any variation in the value of the prizes after that date.
13. Winners will be notified by email. Winners are determined by a time stamped database extract to determine the top reviewer with the specified ‘Prize Periods’. Selection is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
14. The Winner extract will occur at TrueLocal, Level 22, 175 Liverpool St, Sydney, NSW, 2000. Extract dated;
1. Extract for Period 1 will take place at 12 noon on Thursday, September 25, 2008
2. for Period 2 will take place at 12 noon on Thursday, October, 23 2008.
3. Extract for Period 3 will take place at 12 noon on Thursday, November 20 2008.
15. The winners will be notified by email and their name and state/territory of residence will be published within The Australian Newspaper public notices section on Monday, October 6, 2008 (Draw 1); Monday, November 3, 2008 (Draw 2); Monday, December 1, 2008 (Draw 3);.
16. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. Where any prizes are unavailable for any reason, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute for that prize another item of equal or greater value as determined by the Promoter.
17. The Promoter may require entrants to show that they are an Eligible Entrant. Validation may (in the Promoter’s sole discretion) include the entrant providing the Promoter with:
1. of permanent residence status; and
2. Proof of identity and age (identification considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the Promoter).
18. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any problems or technical malfunction of any communication network or for any late, lost, incomplete, incorrectly submitted, delayed, illegible, corrupted or misdirected entries, claims or correspondence arising from any error, omission, alteration, deletion, theft, destruction, transmission interruption and communications failure or otherwise. The Promoter has no control over communication networks or lines and accepts no responsibility for any problems associated with them, whether due to network traffic congestion, technical malfunction or otherwise. The Promoter is not liable for any costs incurred, responses received or any other consequences of user error. Any costs associated with accessing the truelocal.com.au website is the Eligible Entrant’s responsibility and is dependent on the Internet service provider used.
19. The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web sites, or any combination thereof, including injury or damage to participants or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation in or down-loading any materials in the competition.
20. All prizes must be claimed by 19/02/09. If any Prize remains unclaimed by that date the prize/s will be awarded to the entrant with the next highest number of reviews for that period. Those winners, if any, will be determined on 26/02/09 at 12 noon at TrueLocal, Level 22, 175 Liverpool St, Sydney, NSW, 2000, subject to any law or directions from a regulatory authority. Winners’ names will be published in The Australian newspaper on 03/03/2009.
21. The Promoter and its associated agencies and companies shall not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect or consequential loss), damage, personal injury or death which is suffered or sustained (including but not limited to that arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with this competition, or using any prize except any liability that cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law).
22. The Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify all entries from any person, and prohibit that person’s further participation in this competition, who tampers with, or benefits from any tampering with, the entry process or the operation of the competition or acts in violation of these conditions, acts in a disruptive manner or acts with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any person.
23. All entries become the property of the Promoter. All entries will be entered into a database and the Promoter may use the entrants’ names, addresses, telephone numbers and the winners’ name and address and photographs for future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes in any media worldwide without notice and without any fee being paid unless otherwise advised by the entrant.
24. If for any reason this promotion is not capable of running as planned, including unauthorised intervention, fraud, or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter, which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, the Promoter reserves the right in it’s sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process.
25. In the case of the intervention of any outside agent or event which naturally changes the result or prevents or hinders it’s determination, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strikes; the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the event and recommence it from the start on the same conditions subject to state legislation.
